Reef Safe Sunscreen
Divers know our reefs are under threat, but you can help protect them (and yourself) every time you apply sunscreen. Did you know that ingredients like oxybenzone, parabens and mineral oils in sunscreens and body-care products can harm our oceans, rivers, lakes and streams? Studies have shown that coral-reef damage can be caused by these ingredients and they are making their way into the waterways and popular reefs in surprisingly high concentrations.
Join us as we welcome ocean advocate, entrepreneur, and founder of Stream2Sea, Autumn Blum, as she shares ways that you can become an EcoConscious Explorer helping to conserve our blue planet and protect what you love.
Meet your fellow SeaDevils at Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery, located in IX Art Park (520 2nd St SE, Charlottesville). We will meet at 6:00 pm for dinner and drinks and the Meeting/Program begins at 7:00 pm. Social distancing measures will be in place and masks are required when entering the restaurant (snorkels are optional).
