May 2018 Club Meeting
Underwater archaeological diving is a powerful tool that can be used to tell the story of human history. Divers assist archaeologists, scientists and researchers in their objectives of analyzing the physical remains of the past to acquire a broad and comprehensive understanding of past human culture.
Diving With a Purpose (DWP) is a volunteer program that trains experienced divers to become underwater archaeology advocates. Through the program, divers are able to assist in the historical documentation and preservation of artifacts and wreck sites.
Join us as Jay Haigler highlights the work that DWP has been doing with the ‘Slave Wrecks Project’ as well as discusses how scientific diving is used as a tool to assist in underwater archaeology.
Meet new dive buddies, reconnect with old ones, and talk all things related to diving! It’s sure to be a night full of food, drink and fun. Hope to see you there!
